World AIDS Day 2024
December 1st, 2024, was a big day for the Girls Act Leaders as they took on World AIDS Day at Ashoka Garden, Ashok Vihar, Delhi! They had some heavy hitters in attendance, including Shri Sushil Jonty and Smt Seema Naiyar, and got some awesome support from the Inner Wheel Club of Delhi University and Enactus Team from Hansraj. The vibe was lit with 250 women and families from Jahangirpuri, Bharat Nagar, and Shastri Nagar slums rolling in.
The event kicked off with an informative session on HIV and AIDS, led by Ms. Gagan from AHF India Cares. The girls were all about spreading awareness, and it showed – they even had pre-test and post-test Q&A sessions to gauge understanding. And, let’s be real, the performances were fire! Two musical dances and a heart-wrenching role-play later, the crowd was all feels. The role-play was especially powerful, sharing a real-life story of a girl who faced challenges with HIV, highlighting the importance of love and support.
The girl leaders crushed it, divvying up tasks and owning the event! They rehearsed till the day before, and it paid off – the execution was flawless. As a tribute, the girls did a poignant silent gesture with candle lights for those who lost their lives to HIV/AIDS . Post-event, they reflected on what worked and what didn’t, leveling up for the next big thing.
