The World AIDS Day 2025 celebration in Delhi, led by the dynamic youth-led initiative Girls Act Kanya Kranti, was a massive success! Despite the original date getting shifted, over a hundred women and girls showed up on November 30, turning the Child Well Being Centre in Azadpur, Delhi into a vibrant hub of awareness and solidarity! The pre-questionnaire results were eye-opening – a whopping 90% of participants weren’t aware of HIV/AIDS. But that changed quickly!
Sunanda Nadarajan, who bravely shared her personal experience of living with HIV, led an incredibly powerful session. The team didn’t stop there – they distributed T-shirts, caps, condoms, menstrual pads, and refreshments, and even encouraged the women to take extra condoms. The session sparked a fire in the participants, and they left wanting to learn more about prevention and treatment.

The Girls Act team leveled up their game, gaining confidence in conducting awareness sessions, and proving that grassroots efforts are the way to go. And they didn’t stop there! On December 1, 2025, they collaborated with Inner Wheel Rotary Club, Delhi, at Ek Jeevan Hamari Prerana, reaching out to 100 participants, sharing personal stories, discussing prevention, and stressing on HIV testing for families. The message was loud and clear: testing is the key to a safe life!
