Menstrual Hygiene/Health Day-Supported by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF)

Menstrual Hygiene/Health Day 2024

Commemoration of Menstrual Health Day was organized on 26th May 2024 at Dilli Haat INA, Delhi and 28th May 2024 at orphanage ASHALAYA at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The event is specially focused to improve menstrual hygiene management (MHM) among girls and young women and also involving boys and young men to stop bullying instead support girls and young women.

Chief Guests 

The Chief Guests of the program was Shri Ajay Kumar Gupta, IAS, District Magistrate, South East Delhi and  Dr Shweta Rawat, Scientist “F” Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Govt. of India

Exhibition: 

A painting completion on menstruation is organized during a week before commemoration. The paintings created by children were exhibited at the venue and winners are selected with the number of highest marks given by the public and guests. The winners are felicitated with gifts and mementoes by the Chief Guests. 

Street Play:

The girls and boys equally performed the street play to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and to break the social stigma surrounding menstruation.  

Skit: 

The girls and boys collectively presented a thought-provoking skit that highlighted the importance of menstrual awareness for both genders. The skit portrayed a scenario where a boy supports a girl in need by helping her access sanitary napkins and offering emotional support. 

Musical Drama: 

The girls staged a captivating musical drama that creatively illustrated the process of menstruation, aiming to educate and raise awareness about this vital aspect of women’s health in the community.   

Session on Menstrual Hygiene: 

Ms. Tarunima from Ecoswop Solutions conducted a thorough and informative session on Menstrual Hygiene and Health, emphasizing the crucial aspects of effective menstrual health management. 

Fashion show:

A vibrant fashion show was staged by the girls, showcasing their confidence and flair. By boldly walking the ramp in their colourful outfits, the girls demonstrated that menstrual stains should not be a source of shame or embarrassment.  

Distribution of period under wears and accessories

As part of the comprehensive program, a range of essential items were distributed to support menstrual hygiene and health. These included, T-shirts, Period underwear, Buckets (specifically designated for washing and storing menstrual underwear), Bags, Napkins.

International Day of the Girl Child 2024

On October 6, 2024, Ek Jeevan Hamari Prerana organized a special event at Children’s Park, India Gate, to commemorate International Day of the Girl (IDG) 2024. The event created a platform for girls to thrive, lead, and reach their full potential through a variety of engaging activities. Additionally, an awareness session on mental health was conducted to motivate and empower girls, fostering a supportive environment for their overall well-being.

The lively competition concluded with prizes and complimentary gifts being distributed to both the winning group and other participants. Each recipient received a delightful, exciting gifts. 

Every girl was gifted a specially designed sling bag, thoughtfully filled with educational and hygiene items. Each bag contained a notebook, a pen, and three packets of sanitary napkins, addressing a crucial aspect of their reproductive health and empowering them to prioritize self-care.

Parikrama, one of Asia’s most iconic rock bands, teamed up with a dynamic DJ to create an electrifying atmosphere. They played a curated selection of upbeat tracks that encouraged the girls to let loose and showcase their best dance moves. 

Chief Guest

The Chief Guest, Smt. Swati Khanna, a renowned activist for Women Empowerment, highlighted the pressing challenges of mental health during adolescence.   Smt. Khanna urged the children to share their problems with their family members, fostering a supportive environment for their emotional well-being.
